BOOMERANG BAG PROJECT
BOOMERANG BAG Project at CWA Canowindra Branch
One of the CWA Canowindra’s aims is to spread the word about recycling, re-using and abolishing single-use plastic bags. All the fabrics for the bags have been sourced from remnants from crafters’ cupboards, upholstery swatch books, and fabrics which have been donated to charity and sewn together by our branch members. During COVID times, CWA Canowindra have co-ordinated the materials and sewing by women at home.
Boomerang Bags is about connecting communities, making bags, diverting waste, starting conversations, fostering sustainable behaviour, and having a bit of fun! Boomerang Bags is connecting and empowering local communities to tackle plastic pollution at its source.

Boomerang Bags Canowindra commenced in early 2018 and has been continuously running ever since. It started as an initiative of Canowindra CWA to complement their War on Waste program. An attempt has been made to encourage recycling in the village and to reduce the number of soft plastic bags in circulation.
Distributed through market stalls previously, we now have them available to purchase online. Buy online here
